Pat and Colin – Thank You!

When we first set up Team Brophy, the idea was to raise as much awareness and money as possible for the amazing cause that is Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (LLR), while at the same time gaining support for Brophy’s channel swim.

As you can guess, this has been quite a large task, and so we are always happy for any of our supporters to hold fundraising events for us to help raise money towards LLR in support of Team Brophy.

Pat and Colin Campbell, from Manchester, were kind enough for Colin’s 80th Birthday Party to do just that, donating all gifts they received towards LLR in support of Team Brophy. They had a fantastic night, and managed to raise £600!

All of us at Team Brophy and LLR themselves would like to give a massive thank you to both Colin and Pat for their help and generosity, as well as everyone else who donated for this occasion!

Update from Brophy!

Hi everyone! I thought it was time for a little update on what has been happening recently!

Firstly a BIG thanks to all who donated and helped out on the 30th of January for our bucket collection in Birmingham City Centre!
We hit the streets on a very cold day… and I mean a VERY cold day! Everyone worked very hard and together we raised a grand total of £400.61! It was a fantastic days work and we’d like to thank everyone who donated on the day!
Team Brophy Bucket Collection
As well as the bucket collection we have started selling Team Brophy Wristbands for only £1.50 each! All the money raised goes towards LLR so be sure to go and pick one up! They are currently on sale in the S.A. office in the guild and soon at “promotional days” where you will be able to find the team in the guild selling bands. As well as this you are so far able to buy the bands off myself, Tim Long and Ellen Ashfield!

Training wise things are going pretty well, I am currently increasing my training and should have some sponsorship sorted shortly which will make training a lot easier! I am also going to be working on a programme soon to focus on what I need to fulfil my potential.

Remember to keep up with us on Twitter or Facebook for the latest views, news and updates. We also have a number of blogs coming out soon from the team giving you a behind the seen view on Team Brophy and what everyone is getting up to. We are always looking for new ideas and currently looking into future events coming up!

Thanks for all your support,

Ben

Brophy’s Gunging

During the last Aston Guild sesh before Christmas, we decided to raise a little bit of money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, and what better way to do that than a public gunging of Brophy!

Thanks to everyone who came down to watch and donated on the night!

Brophy’s Blog

Hello and welcome back to Brophy’s blog! It has been an extremely busy few weeks. I am now living in Birmingham and have started my second year of my university course. I am currently recovering from a cold but hope to be back training very soon!

Training wise I have been doing a lot of running down the canals around Birmingham and the change in scenery is very refreshing. I am in the process of acquiring gym membership at the newly opened gym at Aston University. Sadly there has been a delay in the swimming pool opening until November so I am currently looking at my options regarding that! I hope to have my car up in Birmingham in the next day or two which should give me the option of open water swims in the future!

The last time I spoke to you myself and Andy Read were preparing ourselves for the Aquathon, and I’m pleased to announce we did pretty well! I manage to come 6th fastest overall for people marked non-club trained and 21st overall where the field was filled with club and county triathlons!

Fund raising wise I am currently planning our next push to hit the magic number to be able to put a deposit down on a support boat! My latest idea is a “Brophy’s Channel Challenge Week” based around Aston University and central Birmingham! So watch this space and if you have any ideas or sponsors let us know on facebook or twitter. We are always open minded!

Remember to follow us on twitter, facebook and youtube for the latest and up-to-date news!

Thank you for all your support so far!
